Woven by Mansa Ram ji, a master weaver of the Gaddi community of Kangra Valley. These large shawls work beautifully as a lightweight blanket or throw.
Garadi (pronounced guh-ruh-dee) and chaadar are worn as shawls by men in the Kangra region of Himachal Pradesh. Garadi are woven in a black-and white check design; chaadar are solid white. Each piece is handwoven from wool yarn handspun on a charkha. After weaving, the fabric is lightly fulled, giving it beautiful drape and durability. Each piece is approximately 1 yard wide and 2 yards long, weighing approximately 2 pounds.
