This pillow cover fits a standard 18″ throw pillow. One side is made of Himachali woolen pattu with large checks, the other side of kala cotton block printed with natural pigments. Kala cotton is a drought-tolerant variety of cotton native to the Kutch region of Gujarat. Like all our products, these pillow covers are handmade of natural materials, so slight variations in color and size are to be expected.

We’re all about wool here at aana jaana, but there are some other cool fibers out there too. These pillow covers feature kala cotton cloth from Khamir, an NGO in Gujarat that works with artisan communities in the rural Kutch region. Native to Kutch, kala cotton is a drought-tolerant variety which Khamir has worked to revive. The handmade cloth in these pillows is also block printed with vegetable dyes in bold geometric patterns that we think coordinate nicely with the large black-and-cream checks of our handwoven wool pattu cloth. The pattu side of the pillow features the irregular selvage (side edge) of the weaving, showing off its handmade uniqueness. Both sides look great as the display side of the pillow.
